Community Foundation awards scholarships
The following area high school students received scholarships through a number of charitable endowments managed by the Community Foundation of Orange County: Chester Union Free School Maryalice DeAngelis and Thomas Burke received $1,250 each from the Rudolph Vallet Memorial Science and Education Scholarship. DeAngelis will study education at the State University of New York at Oneonta, and Burke will study biological studies at St. John’s University. Warwick Valley High School Alexander Raynor and Terence Prial received $1,000 each from the John P. Williamson Memorial Scholarship. Raynor plans to study liberal arts at SUNY Potsdam. Prial plans to study engineering at Columbia University to become an engineer. Daniel Tobin and Shannon Farrell received $500 each from the Anthony C. Quinn Memorial Scholarship. Tobin will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue a major in mechanical engineering and Farrell will attend St. Michaels College to pursue a major in journalism.
