Chester —The Community Foundation of Orange County received a total of $20,000 in state funding to expand philanthropic services in Orange County. The money, secured by state Senator William J. Larkin, Jr., will be used to provide services to existing and future donors, who set up permanent charitable endowed funds through the Community Foundation. The Community Foundation encourages individuals, businesses and organizations to establish permanent charitable funds, which award grants to local nonprofit organizations and scholarships to students. Since its inception in 1999, the Community Foundation has established over 60 charitable funds that have awarded almost $700,000 in grants throughout the local area. The Community Foundation handles all the details involved in setting up and administering a charitable fund, therefore it’s an easy and effective way to make the most of individual and corporate charitable donations.
