Graduations Julia Grunewald of Warwick has graduated magna cum laude from Champlain College in Burlington, Vt., with a bachelor of science degree in professional writing. She also was on the president’s list for the spring 2011 semester. Dean’s list Kristen Ludecker of the Village of Florida has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at SUNY Cortland. The daughter of Susan and James Ludecker, Kristen is majoring in exercise science. Sarah Steele of Florida was named to the president’s list for the spring 2011 semester at the State University of New York College at Cortland. She is a speech language disabilities major and a 2008 S.S. Seward Graduate. Taylor Steele of Florida was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Castleton State College of Vermont. He is a physical education major and a 2010 S.S. Seward Graduate. Honors and awards Gregory O. Orlowski of Warwick, a graduating senior majoring in finance in Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, graduated having completed the Renee Crown University Honors Program. This program is designed for students who seek an intense intellectual challenge. Crown Honors students have demonstrated a commitment to global awareness, civic engagement, collaborative work and academic breadth and depth. All have completed a multi-semester senior project in their specific field of interest. Robert Anthony DiMontova of Warwick has been inducted into the New York State University at Binghamton’ chapter of Tau Sigma, a non-profit organization that recognizes the role transfer students play at more than 60 universities across the country. To be eligible, a student must transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning from another academic institution with at least one full year’s academic credits and registered in a course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree. Membership is based upon superior academic achievement by students during their first term in the institution to which they transfer. The minimum academic average required for membership is either a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Members become active at their universities, participating in such activities as on-campus recruiting events for prospective transfer students, transfer student orientation, community service projects, assisting the admissions office with the recruitment of prospective transfers at junior colleges, and participating in intramural sports and socials that allow them opportunities to fellowship with one another and make new friends.
