    Dean’s list • Kaitlyn Fox of Pine Island was named to the dean’s list for her first semester at the University of Albany. She is a freshman studying environmental sciences. • Matthew E. Culkin, a graduate of Warwick Valley High School, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at Marywood University. Culkin is a senior at Marywood and plays on the lacrosse team. He is planning on graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in marketing. Awards, programs • Michelle Reynoso of Greenwood Lake was one of only 49 students at the College of Westchester in White Plains to be inducted in October into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society from the college’s day, evening and Saturday programs. Phi Theta Kappa is the world’s oldest and largest association of two-year colleges. The armed forces • Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert T. Lipiro, son of Theresa and Robert Lipiro of Warwick, and fellow sailors assigned to amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit participated in a community service project at the House of Family children’s shelter in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The shelter serves as a refuge for HIV/AIDS positive orphans or vulnerable children. Sailors and Marines helped make a stone walkway for the shelter. Afterwards they played games, danced and even provided basic medical treatment for the kids. Lipiro joined the Navy in December 2006.
