Collectibles at the library

The Greenwood Lake Public Library runs a series, now in its seventh-year, called the Collectible Series, which features collections by members of the community. The series is opened to all ages and is exhibited under either one of four titles: Kool Kids Kollectibles, Terrific Teens Treasures, Awesome Adults Acquirements and Sensational Seniors Selections. The mission is to give the collector positive self-esteem by helping them share their favorite things with others, and it’s proven to be quite successful among the library’s patrons. Before the recent purchase of additional display cases, the Kool Kids Kollectibles had a four-year waiting list; the wait-list is now down to 18 months. Among the recent collectors who have displayed their favorite things were Joseph Puzio, 12, a seventh-grader from the Greenwood Lake Middle School, who displayed his Corvettes; Kelsie Akers, 7, a second-grader at Greenwood Lake Elementary School, who shared her gift cards; and Devon Breslin, 9, a resident of Middletown who summers in Greenwood Lake.
