Coldwell Banker Currier and Lazier making a difference with breast cancer
Warwick - October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the real estate agents and office managers of Coldwell Banker Currier & Lazier Realtors® are doing their part to make a difference. Realtors in each of the 12 Coldwell Banker Currier & Lazier offices throughout the Hudson Valley are competing with each other to have a donation made in their name to a breast cancer charity of their choice. How it works is for every outgoing referral to an associated broker, the agent’s name is entered into the competition. At the end of the month, the office with the greatest number of referrals will win prizes. In addition, one agent’s name will be drawn from the entries. That agent will choose a charity related to breast cancer research and awareness. Coldwell Banker Currier & Lazier will make a cash donation to the charity in that realtor’s name. “Everyone has been touched in some way by breast cancer,” said Kathy Piergiorgi, sales manager at the Warwick branch of Coldwell Banker, who lost her niece to the disease. In 2007, an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed. All ethnicities are affected by the disease. The American Cancer Society estimates that 40,460 mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, wives, aunts, and nieces will lose their battle with breast cancer in 2007. Only lung cancer takes more women’s lives than breast cancer. The agents are also bringing awareness of the disease to their fellow coworkers. Piergiorgi said that two representatives from Coldwell Banker’s Middletown office, Johnnieanne Hanson and Renee Mincione, participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City earlier this month. In addition, many others are sharing their stories, statistics, ideas, and contributions in their weekly meetings.
