Warwick — The big video rental chains and mail order houses offer a wide selection of titles. But can they match the personal attention and service afforded by local merchants? Mary Multari, owner of Clocktower Video on Main Street in Warwick, recently proved to the members of the Chosun Taekwondo Academy that shopping in town has its benefits. “Each year we hold the Chosun Overnight Taekwondo Training Camp for the youngsters in our school, that features martial arts training, games, dinner, and a video,” stated Master Doug Cook, head instructor of the Chosun Taekwondo Academy, also located on Main Street. “When I went to rent the video for the evening” Cook explained, “Mary, discovering what it was for, refused to charge me. While some may say that the monetary amount involved was insignificant, to those of us involved, the thought was enormous.” Subsequently, the act prompted the students to present her with a Special Recognition Award to show their appreciation for her kindness. Although Multari claims that donating “The Karate Kid” video for viewing at the overnight event was a minor act of consideration, it clearly demonstrated the warm relationship shared by local businesses in Warwick.
