Church teens help those in need

Pine Island — Twenty-three teens and five adults from Vision Community Church recently traveled to Manassas, Va. to participate in Group Workcamp’s Week of Hope. Spending their first week of summer vacation in service to others was nothing new for many of the young people from Vision, several of whom have given their time, talent and labor in previous years. Led by Pastor Don Heatley and Director of Ministries Pam Heatley, the group served the community of Manassas by visiting seniors in assisted living facilities, working in the local food pantry and participating in food drives, weeding and beautifying thoroughfares, painting homes and doing repair work for residents. This is the eighth year that Vision Community Church has taken part in Group Workcamp. Vision meets for worship at Pine Island Elementary School every Sunday at 10 a.m. For more information visit www.visiblechurch.org.
