Charles Mitchell is new head of Consumer Affairs

    Goshen — Charles F. Mitchell of Warwick has been appointed commissioner of Orange County’s recently reorganized Department of Consumer Affairs. He will be the first commissioner of the recently reorganized department, which is charged with protecting and promoting the welfare of local consumers. It will also administer the newly enacted Electrical Licensing Law, oversee the Division of Weights and Measures, review state and local consumer protection laws, and conduct consumer education programs. “I am honored by this opportunity to serve the residents of this great county,” Mitchell said. “I look forward to using the skills I have learned over the last 20 years to challenge the system and advocate for the residents of Orange County.” Mitchell’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the county legislature. “Chuck Mitchell has had a long and distinguished career in public service,” said Orange County Executive Edward Diana. “His term as deputy city clerk and common council clerk of the City of Middletown was marked by a strong commitment to constituent service, and set a standard of excellence that will benefit all the residents of Orange County as our next commissioner of Consumer Affairs.”
