Candlelight Christmas at Hill Hold
Montgomery Candlelight Christmas tours will be held at Hill Hold Museum on the weekends of December 9-10 and 16-17. The halls will be decked throughout this historic house. The parlor features a collection of antique toys. Candlelight will glisten off of the “mercury glass” ornaments that adorn the Christmas tree. Mantles and banisters will be festooned with garland, and the dining room will be set for a traditional holiday meal and accented with flowers, poinsettias, and topiaries. Upstairs in the workroom, a volunteer will demonstrate Colonial-period crafts, and in the west bedroom a feather tree will be decorated with delicate, antique ornaments. In the kitchen guests will see demonstrations of early cooking techniques over an open hearth. Fireplaces will be lit throughout the house. The tours are sponsored by the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation in conjunction with the Friends of Hill Hold and Brick House Museums.
