Sugar Loaf Chamber elects new team of leaders

The Sugar Loaf Chamber of Commerce elected Gary Hunsberger as president as well as Jessica Hengen as treasurer, Stephanie Miranda as assistant treasurer, and Sharon Soons as secretary on its meeting on Saturday, Oct. 30.

According to the press release announcing the elections, the new team is energized and eager to serve the communities and businesses of Sugar Loaf and Chester as the connective liaison tying together the members to available resources and opportunities.

Plans are underway to reveal opportunities available to chamber members, bring attention to economic development, provide small businesses with a voice, and present how they will be showcased through membership perks.

“This newly elected team brings a well-rounded portfolio of business acumen to the chamber and its community,” Hunsberger said on the press release announcing his election. “As local business owners and members of community-driven organizations, we share a common goal to be reminders of the unique and vibrant shops, restaurants, performance venues, offices and nonprofits that are home here and within Sugar Loaf and Chester.

“We are poised to make the area a full-service locale for residents and a desirable destination for out-of-town travelers,” Hunsberger explains.

The new team has committed to begin working toward bringing the community together with a December calendar full of festive events:

● Dec. 1: Holiday Mixer

Newly elected Sugar Loaf Chamber of Commerce officers will be in attendance at the annual business mixer to meet and greet guests, providing insight into the agenda of the chamber. The holiday business mixer welcomes all business owners in Sugar Loaf and Chester. A $10 admission in advance or $15 at the door includes dinner, along with a cash bar, a Holiday Basket raffle, and networking opportunities with chamber members, other business owners and local officials. Enjoy the music of Ugly George while networking and bringing in the Holiday season.

Festivities take place at the Seligman Center, 2 6White Oak Drive, Sugar Loaf, from 7 to 10 p.m. $10 Tickets are $10.

● Dec. 11. Sugar Loaf Holiday Festival

The annual Sugar Loaf tree-lighting will take place Saturday, Dec. 11, at 4:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Sugar Loaf.

Sip on cider provided by Sugar Loaf Community Foundation and join Warwick Valley Chorale, Warwick Valley High School Treble Choir and Warwick Valley High School Meistersingers for festive shop and tree-side caroling.

Share your wish list with Santa, capture a keepsake photo and take a holiday horse-drawn carriage ride through the Village of Sugar Loaf (weather dependent) from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Stop in White Rabbit Restorations at 62 Wood Road to pick up a ticket valid for shopping discounts and other freebies throughout the Hamlet of Sugar Loaf.
