Business Notebook: On the sidewalks of Warwick

Warwick - It’s a “Sidewalk Sale,” so why not advertise it on the sidewalk. Anyone who has visited the downtown business district in the Village of Warwick may have noticed the chalk messages advertising the upcoming “Sidewalk Sale.” They’re just simple statements, soon to disappear with a rainfall, that the annual sale, a popular downtown district event, has been scheduled for three days beginning Friday, July 7 and ending Sunday, July 9. Mark your own sidewalks or calendars and spend some time that weekend strolling through the village and taking advantage of the special sales and promotions. There also will be food, entertainment, music and special events including children’s entertainment and face painting and a pancake-eating contest at the Willows Café. The Sidewalk Sale will feature merchandise, much of it on sale, offered by local businesses. Non-profit organizations have also been invited to participate. The co-chairs for this year’s event are Tim Mullally from Style Counsel and Sue Loughren from The Toy Chest. For additional information about the upcoming Sidewalk Sale call Tim Mullally at 986-9588 or Sue Loughren at 987-1133. Jacqueline’s Boutique On of the participating Main Street merchants in the upcoming sidewalk sale is Jackie Sitro, owner of Jacqueline’s Boutique. As usual, Sitro will take advantage of the opportunity to not only display her clothing lines but to also offer a special sidewalk sale of her unique costume jewelry. Jacqueline’s Boutique, at 17 Main St., is known for fashionable clothing lines including evening wear and spring wear by Belldini, Avalin and Wild River among others. The shop also specializes in mother of the bride or mother of the groom dresses and tuxedo rentals. “We’re especially proud of our line of Mary Frances Handbags and Accessories,” said Sitro. “Mary Frances was just named, Designer of the Year,’ for 2006.” “Luxurious fabrics, bead work, trims and stones characterize the attractive handbags and accessories,” explained Sitro. “Mary Frances products,” she added, “are individually hand-crafted by skilled artisans who pay close attention to detail and quality. They’re the choice of many well-known celebrities.” Jacqueline’s Boutique is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All you can eat Every Wednesday at Graziella’s Italian Café, 40 Jersey Ave., Greenwood Lake, it’s “All You Can Eat Pasta Night.” And big eaters are losing money if they stay home. The price for ordering those unlimited first, second and third or whatever servings is only $12. Graziella’s, a popular family restaurant, is well known for its unique promotions. On Thursday nights, for example, it’s “Karaoke with Steve,” from 7 - 11 p.m. The ladies who stay home on Friday nights are also losing money. Every Friday evening they can enjoy wine and domestic beer at the bar for 1950s era prices of only $1 per drink. But if you think that’s a bargain, this Friday night, June 30, Graziella’s is holding an all-night dance party. And, from 10 - 11 p.m., ladies drink free and the draft beer is free for the guys.
