Business Notebook: Nothing unlucky about the 13th annual Taste of Warwick

Warwick - If past history is any indication, tickets to this year’s “Taste of Warwick,” one of the community’s most popular social events, may already be sold out. The 13th annual “Taste of Warwick,” a celebration of the area’s best restaurants, chefs, farms, wineries and sense of community, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Warwick Valley Winery, 114 Little York Road. Hopefully under the stars, in an elegant, candle-lit tent, guests can sample local wines and food while listening to a jazz trio in the tent or vocalists in the Winery’s bar and cafe. And, if you’re interested in different national sports, there are two regulation Bocce courts on site. As regional chefs discover the benefits of promoting their specialties featuring local produce, the list of participating restaurants has expanded every year. This year’s participants are Bellvale Farms Creamery, Black Dirt Catering, Bobolink Dairy, Copper Bottom, Crystal Inn, Iron Forge Inn, Jean-Claude’s Patisserie, La Petite Cuisine, Maggie’s in the Alley, Pennings Farm Kitchen, Quaker Creek Dairy Swirl, Restaurant Latour, Tokyo Plum House and Zana D. And providing wines and spirits are Peck’s Wine & Spirits and Warwick Valley Winery Tasting Room. The sponsors for the 13th annual “Taste of Warwick are Gilsenan Designs, Newhard’s and Kuiken Brothers Kitchen & Bath. Tickets at $40 per person must be purchased in advance. They are now on sale at: Penra’s, Mima’s, Peck’s Wine & Spirits, Greetings & Salutations, and Inkwell. To charge tickets, call the Chamber office at 986-2720. The Warwick Chamber will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Community Preservation Fund, according to Executive Director Linda Glohs. Giant copy shop Angela and Barry Abrams, owners of Giant Copy Shop, 14 Railroad Ave., Warwick, boast that they are equipped with the newest state-of-the-art technology to copy anything, big or small, that needs to be reproduced. And they also have the experience. The couple recently moved to this area with their two children, ages 14 and 16. They came from Bayshore, Long Island, where they had owned and managed a copy shop for 26 years. Angela and Barry opened their new shop on Railroad Avenue last January. In addition to high quality reproduction of documents in black and white or color, Giant Copy also offers production or reproduction of building plans from computer files as well as originals. “We can also handle small jobs such as business cards and envelopes,” said Angela Abrams, “and we specialize in vinyl signs.” The shop’s equipment is digital and can interface with computers. Using modern technology, Giant Copy can scan maps, architectural drawings or what-have-you and then print copies and/or send them back to the customer as a computer file. Service is also fast. “With the exception of our vinyl signs, which may take overnight,” said Abrams “we can offer same day service or even finish jobs while you wait.” Giant Copy Shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also on Saturdays after the summer season ends.
