Business notebook: Come celebrate today, tomorrow and Sunday

Warwick - It’s here. This weekend Warwick will host its annual “Sidewalk Sale.” The popular downtown district event has been scheduled for three days beginning this Friday, July 7, and ending Sunday, July 9. Spend some time during the weekend strolling through the village and take advantage of the special sales and promotions. There will also be food, entertainment, music and special events including children’s entertainment, face painting and a pancake-eating contest at the Willows Café. The Sidewalk Sale will feature merchandise, much of it on sale, offered by local businesses. Non-profit organizations have also been invited to participate. New owner, new look Dena’s Doggie Designs, 585 Route 94 North, Warwick, was formerly known as “U - Shampoo,” a popular self-serve dog wash. The shop, now renamed after her longtime mobile service, was recently purchased by local area resident Dena Feldman. Dena’s Doggie Designs is still an enjoyable and entertaining place to bathe and bond with your pet in an environment that promotes socialization between the pets and their owners. “We sterilize everything before our next client,” said Feldman, a graduate of the North Jersey School of Dog Grooming. “We supply everything you need. We want this to be as easy and as much fun as possible.” In addition to carrying on the tradition of the store as a self-serve dog wash, Feldman can draw upon her 16 years experience as a groomer along with time spent as an instructor at her school, to offer her customers complete grooming services. It also helps that she has 14 years experience as a veterinarian technician. Although Feldman and her husband Scott are usually busy during their free time taking care of their children Julia, 5, and Joshua, six months, as well as their four dogs, they managed, with the help of Scott’s mother, Patricia Feldman, to redesign the store. “We wanted to create a warm and friendly feeling,” said Dena Feldman. Dena’s Doggie Designs is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Call 986-9300. First anniversary Warwick Grove, a traditional neighborhood development, celebrated its first anniversary on June 24-25 with a two-day event that featured live music, refreshments and giveaways. According to the developer, Warwick Grove is the first and only active adult traditional neighborhood community in the Northeast. Free Music and Poetry Series Sunday afternoons, the Bertoni Gallery Sculpture Garden at 1392 Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf offers a free music and poetry series. Bring your own blanket, the entire family and a picnic lunch. Beginning at 1 p.m. this Sunday, July 9, enjoy poetry by Jim Kenny, Ada Hunter, Mike Jurkovic and Marnie McCasland followed by The Utopian Bend and at 4 p.m., the original acoustics of Jamie Barr. Next Sunday, July 16, the Bertoni Gallery will feature the Blues-Rock of Crawlspace, the John Bendy Bandy Band and the hypnotic acoustics of Sarah Morr. Preferred Business Directory Local businesses recently received copies of the 2006 Preferred Business Directory. The Warwick Chamber of Chamber uses the publication, which is distributed by request in Tourist Information Packets, as the prime source of referrals. The booklet, available at the chamber’s “Caboose” office on South St., lists more than 370 chamber member businesses arranged by category. “The goal of supporting local businesses is in your hands,” said the chamber’s president, Warwick attorney Bob Krahulik.
