    Who Let the Dogs Out? Warwick — Applewood Winery will host the seventh annual Who Let the Dogs Out? fund raiser for the Warwick Valley Humane Society on Saturday, July 16, beginning at 11 a.m. The event was rescheduled from a rained out weekend in June. In the event of rain all the activities will take place in the Applewood Barn. The fund raiser will include canine contests, a canine agility course, Dirty Dog Mobile Grooming, a Pet Photo Contest and a lecture provided by professional trainers from the Canine Case Squad. The grand finale for the day will be the Shelter Dog Parade featuring the adoptable dogs of the Warwick Valley Humane Society. As with every weekend at the Applewood Winery, wine tastings are available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Courtyard Café will feature light fare and the winery’s sangria. There will be live music from 2 to 5 p.m. in the courtyard. Registration for the event is $10 for adults and $1 for children under 14 years of age. Social Security seminars offered Poughkeepsie — HVFCU Financial Services at Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union will conduct seminars on understanding and maximizing Social Security benefits. Attendees will learn key facts about Social Security and how to navigate the decisions surrounding the program, including how benefits are calculated; what is full retirement age; and how to choose the right time to file. The seminar will also provide information on the pros and cons of receiving benefits while working, provisional income, tax implications, as well as options for spouses and ex-spouses. Church will host drug awareness session Glenwood, N.J. — Join other parents and community members on Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Glenwood Baptist Church to learn about the latest trends, signs, symptoms and lingo of local drug use. Presenters include Becky Carlson, assistant director for the Center of Prevention and Counseling; Sergeant Jayson Haw, Vernon Police Department; and Pastor Jean, Glenwood Baptist Church. The goal is to collaborate to keep youth healthy, safe, and drug-free. This is a free event. Refreshments will be served. The church is located at 1863 Route 565, in Glenwood, N.J. SUNY Orange to host blood drive in August MIDDLETOWN — SUNY Orange will join forces with the American Red Cross for a summer blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the Fireplace Lounge, located in the Shepard Student Center on the college’s Middletown campus. All donors will receive a coupon for one free box of chocolate-dipped fruit, courtesy of Edible Arrangements. All donors will also be entered in a drawing to receive one of two $250 VISA gift cards. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted. Donors are encouraged to eat and drink prior to donating, and are required to provide proper identification (showing proof of age) and social security number.
