Brownie Troop 104 looks to promote good will with the people of Iraq

Warwick - The Brownies of Troop 104 in Warwick will host a collection drive from Feb. 8 through March 15 for U.S. troops in Iraq to benefit the women and children of that war-torn country. According to Sue Cassady, one of the troop’s leaders: “All donated items (pre-packaged) will benefit our troops in Iraq by allowing them to distribute the items to the local needy Iraqi families. This is important as it enables the soldiers to promote goodwill throughout Iraqi communities while deployed.” The suggested donation list was provided by Ed Lynch of Edward Jones Investment firm in Warwick, who also is a lieutenant colonel in Army Reserves. The drop off location is Lynch’s office located at 77 Ronald Reagan Boulevard, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. His office can be reached at 986-7220. • Supply list for women includes: Cosmetics, perfume and scarves. • General items include: Flash lights and batteries, first aid supplies, fly or mosquito screens, flash drives, batteries - AA most popular. • School supplies include: Arabic-English books and dictionaries, stationary, pens, writing instruments, markers, pens, chalk, etc, student school supplies and paper, backpacks for students. • Durable toys include: Beanie Babies, soccer and other balls. • Food items include: Specialty teas and coffee, pistachio and cashew nuts (Iraqi favorites), powdered hot and cold drinks, soup mixes and Ramen, individually packaged snacks such as Trail mix, cookies, candy, gum, power bars, dried fruit, beef jerky, Pringles, sunflower seeds, girl scout cookies, etc. For further information, contact Cassady via e-mail at suecassny@aol.com
