Warwick — The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund 9th Annual Golf Outing is set to usher in Memorial Day Weekend, on Friday, May 25, at Crystal Springs Golf and Spa Resort in nearby Hamburg, N.J. The outing provides the financial foundation from which the fund can reach out and support local families throughout the year. Sponsors and golfers should sign up immediately. This outing has become the annual event where old friends are reunited and new friendships formed. Whether a competitive golfer or novice, every participant will enjoy all the outing has to offer: win a car or unique raffles prizes, awards galore, great food, live music, dancing and awesome golf courses. Supporters feel great that their support really makes a difference: 96 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to local families in need. Run entirely by volunteers, sponsors and participants know they are directly assisting struggling families. The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund has now distributed over $425,000, including funding $28,000 in scholarships to college bound Warwick seniors. The 9th Annual Golf Outing kicks off the annual fundraising campaign for the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund. A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1998, the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund provides assistance to families with children in need. Brian Ahearn was a 14-year-old boy who passed away after fighting a courageous battle with brain cancer. In Brian’s spirit, the fund was formed to assist children that are seriously ill or disabled, have been affected by the death of a parent or guardian, or have been victim of a fire or other natural disaster, supporting families in Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan Counties. Foursomes will play the “best ball” format, with a shotgun start slated for 1 p.m. For a fee of $185, golfers will enjoy lunch, a unique gift, 18 holes of golf (carts and greens fees included) and a dinner/dance to be held at the Crystal Springs clubhouse. Additional tickets can be purchased separately to attend the dinner/dance for $60. For information, call Jeff Ahearn at 986-9017 or Mike Conklin at 986-0362.
