Breaking the silence about domestic violence

The Clothesline Project’ on Oct. 5 will celebrate women’s strength to survive Goshen - The Orange County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is sponsoring a display of “The Clothesline Project” on Thursday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in front of the Government Center in Goshen. There will be a brief ceremony at 12:00 noon. The Clothesline Project is a visual display of tee shirts with messages and illustrations designed by women survivors of violence, or by someone who knows a woman whose life has been affected by violence. The demonstration seeks to: Increase awareness about the impact of violence in people’s lives. Celebrate a woman’s strength to survive. Provide another way to break the silence that often surrounds violence against women. The Oct. 5 display kicks off the observation of October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Organizers expect to have nearly 300 shirts on display and will have supplies available to allow visitors to create their own. Rain date for display is Oct. 6.
