Bellvale United Methodist Church receives hospitality award

Bellvale - For the third consecutive year, the Bellvale United Methodist Church has been recognized by United Methodist Communications as an official “Welcoming Congregation.” “Welcoming congregations” are a select group of United Methodist congregations nationwide that meet criteria including embracing newcomers and providing opportunities in discipleship. The recognition program is part of a larger effort launched in late 2000 by the denomination’s communications agency to use modern technology and the common language of television to spread the Good News of Christ to a world in need. Only 10 of the 1,347 United Methodist Churches in New York State have achieved this designation. Of the 10 certified churches, Bellvale is only the second to achieve certification for a third consecutive year. Members of Bellvale’s Igniting Ministry team were honored to apply for this certification, to recognize the welcoming lifestyle of the entire congregation. “We strive to welcome, support and care for all, whether first time visitor or long time member,” Kim Blumenberg, the chair of the Igniting Ministry Team, said in a press release. The church is located in the hamlet of Bellvale, at 41 Bellvale Lakes Road in Warwick. The congregation is led by Pastor Elizabeth Williams, who began her tenure at Bellvale in July 2007.
