Beach closes this weekend

    Greenwood Lake - The Greenwood Lake Public Beach on Windermere Avenue will remain open for swimming through Labor Day weekend. After Sunday, Sept. 4, it will remain open as a park only from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The town beach on Gamache Lane closed for the season on Aug. 29. In other news from Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton's office: • Close to 600 people were served a picnic lunch by community volunteers during the 15th Annual Senior Barbecue held two weeks ago at the Town Park. Special thanks go out to Walt O'Dell, the king of chicken cooking, Paul Karas, who made sure the hot dogs were ready on time as well as organizing the serving line, Dorothy Anderson, the champion prize solicitor, and John Corcoran, the music man. Thanks also go out to all of the contributors of money, food and supplies, as well as all the volunteer groups and elected officials who served the dinners. • The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway. • Tune to Cablevision Municipal Channel 21 or log on to www.townofwarwick.org for town information.
