Be an angel this holiday season and help someone in need

Warwick — Have you noticed the little wooden Christmas tree cutout on the fence between Akin’s Pharmacy and Newhard’s? It’s a yearly event sponsored by the Warwick Merchants Guild called the Angel Tree. “The Angel Tree directly benefits the local Warwick community,” said Penny Steyer, owner of Penra Wine and Spirits on Main Street. “All gifts are distributed by the local Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry to make the holiday a bit brighter for the children and senior citizens served by the Pantry.” It’s easy to participate. Simply take an angel from the tree, buy a gift and drop it off at Penra, 36 Main St., directly across from the tree. The gifts must be unwrapped and may be left in the front window of the store. The Merchants Guild will deliver the gifts to the Ecumenical Council’s Food Pantry on Monday, December 18th, just in time for the holidays. Girl Scout Troop 479 made the posters and helped develop ideas and gift suggestions for the recipients.
