Assemblyman Greg Ball raises more than $100,000 in Congressional bid

Albany - Assemblyman Greg Ball (R-C-I-Patterson), candidate for Congress in New York’s 19th district, has released what experts say are impressive fund-raising numbers in second quarter filing report with the Federal Elections Commission: He has more than $100,000 on hand for his expected contest again the Democratic incumbent, Rep. John Hall. Ball’s office reported that he raised more than $180,000 from m ore than 1,500 individuals in 47 states. “Raising most of these funds from individual donors shows that Assemblyman Ball is building a wide-base of support, throughout the district and beyond,” said Vincent Reda, who serves as first vice-chairman of the New York State Republican Committee and Republican County chairman in Rockland. The 19th district is considered to be one of the best opportunities for Republicans to regain a seat in the northeast. Ball, who has a reputation as one of the best Republican fundraisers in the State Assembly, also showed prowess at raising money online, accepting well over a third of his contributions through the internet. The Assemblyman, a two-term lawmaker whose district comprises approximately 22 per cent of the Westchester-Rockland-Putnam-Dutchess-Orange based 19th Congressional District, received the majority of his donations from inside the congressional district itself. Of his seven Political Action Committee donations, all were labor unions and sportsmen’s groups from the Hudson Valley. “I think it shows that the people here are hungry for new leadership in Washington, and they want a congressman who will stand up for them and restore America’s promise,” said Orange County Republican Chairman William DeProspo.
