WARWICK - The Warwick Valley Quilters' Guild, with 100 members from 24 towns and cities in the Hudson River Valley, will hold its biannual quilt show, "Stars Of The Valley" from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 15 and 16 at the Sanfordville Elementary School, Sanfordville Road in Warwick. The "Stars of the Valley" show features the work of Ruth Luckman of Bellvale. It will be a juried show with more than 200 quilts on display. Eighteen vendors from eight Hudson River counties will be represented. One of the earliest members of the Guild, Luckman began quilting in the early 1980s by taking a class at the local high school from Phyllis Klein, a founding member of the guild. At that time, there was a quilt shop in Warwick and Ruth Luckman's husband, Ken, a master woodcarver and member of the Mid-Hudson Woodcarver's Guild, said that Ruth immediately caught "Quilt Pox." Although Ruth has a sewing machine, she says that she still enjoys sitting quietly, piecing and quilting by hand. Ruth has made more than 50 quilts which she's shared with family and friends, and recently donated a quilt to be raffled as a fund raiser by the Save Old Bellvale committee. Admission is $5 adults, children free.
