Warwick — The Warwick Valley Humane Society is celebrating its 37th year of operation during National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Sunday, Nov. 6 through Saturday, Nov. 12. Residents from the local communities are invited to visit the Warwick Animal Shelter to meet the staff and the homeless guests awaiting adoption. The shelter, located at 48 Public Works Drive off Kings Highway in Warwick, is open seven days a week from noon until 4 p.m. It is a temporary home to unclaimed stray or unwanted dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and assorted pets, at various times of the year. The society is always in need of donations of: canned dog and cat food; litter; bird, rabbit and guinea pig food, including fresh vegetables and fruit; cleaning supplies (bleach, paper towels, simple green, shavings); and toys. Monetary contributions are also accepted for the Pole Barn Completion Fund, the Wildlife Fund for injured wild animals, the Riley Fund for the extra medical needs of senior pets, and the shelter’s sponsorship program. General funds are always appreciated. Pet owners and animal-loving residents can support the work of the society by becoming members. For more information, call 986-2473 or visit www.wvhumane.org.
