Albert Wisner Public Library plans SAT, movies and environmental programs for teens this spring

Warwick - The Albert Wisner Public Library has announced seven programs scheduled this spring for young adults in the Warwick Valley School District ages 12 to 18: SAT tips and inspiration, April 14, 7-8 p.m., at the library. Reading specialist Jill Mante returns to offer advice to high school students on preparing for the SAT. This is particularly helpful for students who have not taken an SAT test preparation course. Your library from home, April 16, 7-8 p.m., at the library. Learn how to gain access to the library’s electronic resources from home. Topics will include how to find and manage your own library account, how to search the library catalog, how to place items on hold and how to locate and search the databases for homework or personal research. Operation Clean Sweep, April 19, 10-11 a.m., at the library. Teens are invited and encouraged to help spruce up the library grounds and nearby neighborhood as part of Warwick’s town-wide roadside pick-up program. The first six teens to register will receive a Barnes & Noble gift card. A Greener Tomorrow, April 26, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the library. Meet with Patrick Gallagher of Gallagher Solar and Warwick Valley High School environmental science teacher Edward Sattler to learn how small changes you make today can make a big difference for the world tomorrow. Teen Movie Night @ WVCC, May 2, 7 p.m. See Nicole Kidman in “The Golden Compass” (PG-13) at the Warwick Valley Community Center. Snacks and beverages provided; co-sponsored by the WVCC. Printmaking, May 3, 1-3 p.m., at the library. Warwick Art teacher Nicole Heller will teach teens how to create their own prints. Discussion of traditional printmaking techniques and practice with monotypes, color creation and selection. Using water-soluble inks, participants will learn and bring home a variety of creative print works. Bring a smock. Babysitting Workshop: May 15, 5-7 p.m., at the library. Open to participants in the sixth grade and higher, this one-day workshop conducted by the Child Care Council of Orange County will focus on basic child care and safety issues, as well as activities appropriate for different ages.
