Warwick — Award-winning local publisher Gavin Caruthers will show you how to publish your own work in eBook and print at a free seminar at the Albert Wisner Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. To register online visit www.albertwisnerlibrary.org or call 986-1047 ext. 3. “There are a few key steps to successfully publishing your work,” Caruthers said in a press release from the library announcing the seminar. “The first is to prepare the manuscript properly. The second is to have it converted into either an e-Book file or print file. The third step is to identify your market and get the right distribution, so the maximum number of people will have a chance to see it and buy it.” E-Books now represent the easiest and least expensive way to publish you book. “There’s no printing and shipping, and your book is available 24/7 around the world,” Caruthers said. The Association of American Publishers reports that e-Books are now the number one format for books, surpassing hardcovers and paperbacks in sales. “Consumers who download e-Books show signs of being more willing to experiment and try something new when buying books,” Caruthers added. “That’s great news for new and self-published authors.” Caruthers is president of Hudson Valley Authors, which offers a full line of freelance publishing services. He is also an award-winning local publisher and a veteran of the book industry. He has held sales and marketing positions at Simon and Schuster and HarperCollins and spent ten years as a book buyer for Barnes and Noble.
