Warwick - The Albert Wisner Public Library recently held its annual “Battle of the Books” competitions on Aug. 23 and 24. The children’s battle for grades 3 through 5, now celebrating its 10th anniversary, had 13 teams competing for prizes of tee shirts, free local coupons and a backpack for each player. The winning team was “The VIP’s” - Shayne O’Neill, Fiona Dunn, Audrey Weatherstone and Rebecca Markowitz - who had to read ten required titles to answer the questions. This year saw the first teen competition for grades six through nine. The winners - Sarah Angle, Kathryn Hancharik and Alyssa Younan - split a cash prize of $200, and were required to read a list of eight books in order to answer their questions. The teen program was made possible by a generous donation from an anonymous sponsor.
