Advise offered on how to succeed in college
NEWBURGH Award-winning speaker, author, and educator Joe Martin, Ph.D, will give his strategies for succeeding in college at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Hudson Hall Auditorium, Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh. Martin’s popular program, “Tricks of the Grade: Strategies for Acing College,” is free and open to the public. He will show students how to use proven methods to achieve better grades and get the most out of their academic experience. At 24, Martin was the youngest faculty member ever appointed to teach at a state university in Florida. He was also the youngest professor at his university to be nominated twice for the Distinguished Teacher’s Award. He is the founder and president of RealWorld University (www.RWuniversity.com), an award-winning Web site designed to help students meet the personal and academic challenges of college. Martin has taught communications at the University of West Florida in Pensacola and at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Before his appointment, he owned and operated a successful special events/public relations agency at age 26 and a successful retail clothing store at age 22.
