A venti caramel macchiato with soy milk and an extra shot, anyone?

WEST MILFORD, N.J. If you have an affinity for boutique coffees a gas station may not be the first place you think of for a latte, but the Tiger Mart on the corner of Lakeside and Union Valley Roads now offers a host of upscale coffee choices. Owner/Manager Bob Cattani, a Warwick, N.Y., resident has opened a Law Coffee Cafe inside his convenience store. The cafe, which offers numerous coffee concoctions including lattes, espressos and cappuccinos, is the first of its type for the W.B. Law Coffee Company. Cattani has long offered Law coffee in an assortment of flavors, but up until now it has been traditionally brewed. The new cafe will offer a Starbucks-style menu of drinks and the staff have been have been trained in the ways of Seattle coffee baristas. In addition, fresh bakery items including Lisa’s Cookies are available. Cattani has owned and operated the Tiger Mart for 12 years. It’s truly a family run business. His wife Francine and kids Jimmy, 15, Paige, 12 and Michael, 10, all help out. But that’s not all. His mom Jean Marie, his dad Gene and his mother-in-law Michele Markowski also all pitch in, making it a multi-generational affair. David Mendez, owner of W.B. Law Coffee Company, was on hand for the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the cafe earlier this week. Mendez is himself from a multi-generational family business. He is the fourth generation to run the coffee company. Started in 1909 in the Ironbound Section of Newark, the business is headed into its 100th year. There are hundreds of outlets for W.B. Law coffee in the northeastern United States, but the cafe is a prototype for what Mendez hopes will be an expanding business. So if you’re in the mood for a double espresso mocha cappuccino you don’t have to go very far. And if you’re in the mood for a regular cup of joe, they brew it fresh every 30 minutes.
