A summer well-spent

This summer, Ariel Ambar, a ninth grader at Warwick Valley High School, worked as a summer camp counselor at the Child and Youth Services (CYS), School Age Services (SAS) Summer Camp at West Point. On Aug. 18, a barbecue and awards ceremony was held for the teen volunteers to thank them for their hard work. Ariel is pictured here with CYS coordinator Donald L. Hulst, who presented her with her award. Ariel learned about responsibility, patience, camaraderie, mentoring, sportsmanship and peer-to-peer communication skills and shared her insights on these issues with the campers. The SAS Summer Campers learned to look up to responsible teens. All volunteers further enhanced the United States Army Garrison program, and their hard work was greatly appreciated.
