$30,000 flood relief fund created
GOSHEN-Orange County United Way, in conjunction with Orange County Government, has established a Flood Relief Fund with an initial investment of $30,000. As requested by Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana, the Orange County Legislature allocated $25,000 to initiate the fund. The United Way Board of Directors contributed $5,000 more. More than 80 families have been displaced and more that 160 homes have been affected due to the floods. "It is our hope that people will donate to this fund in an effort to help the families that have been displaced get their lives back together," Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana said. Individuals needing assistance may call the Salvation Army of Port Jervis at 856-3214 as well as the American Red Cross Orange/Sullivan Chapter at 294-9785. Victims of the floods are also encouraged to see if they qualify for services offered by the Department of Social Services at 858-1420. If you were a victim of floods outside of Port Jervis and Deerpark, contact the Department of Emergency Management at 291-3199.
