Warwick student accepted into People to People leadership program

WARWICK - Thomas Krahulik, 12, the son of Warwick attorneys Robert and Christine Krahulik, was recently accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum. People to People, founded in 1956 under the sponsorship of Dwight D. Eisenhower, promotes international and domestic journeys for students, athletes and professionals to better understand history and culture. From March 17 to 23, Krahulik, a seventh-grader at Warwick Valley Middle School, joined a select group of students in Washington, D.C. Among the places they visited were Capital Hill, the Smithsonian Institution, Colonial Williamsburg and the National Museum of American History. Last year, science teacher Robert Slutsky, nominated Krahulik for the program because of his scholastic record, civic involvement and leadership potential. That was followed a year of planning during which Krahulik was required to submit letters of recommendation and other materials to the program. He also completed three assignments and reviewed a study guide and other materials that were provided. This year he was nominated again by seventh grade teacher Daryl Wilbur. “We are very proud of him,” said his father, Robert Krahulik.
