Warwick resident receives University of Scranton faculty grant

    Scranton, Pa. - Rita P. Fleming Cottrell of Warwick, N.Y., an assistant professor of occupational therapy at The University of Scranton, has been selected by The University of Scranton’s Faculty Development Board to receive an intersession 2007 grant. Cottrell will research “The Development of Core Research Competencies for Evidence-based Occupational Therapy Practice.” She is one of five faculty members who have been awarded intersession grants. Cottrell joined The University of Scranton’s faculty in 2002 as a lecturer in occupational therapy. In 2003, she was promoted to instructor, and in 2006, was named assistant professor. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in occupational therapy from New York University. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Occupational Therapy Association, American Association of University Women and New York State Occupational Therapy Association. She has been honored with several awards and honors. She is a doctoral candidate at New York University.
