Warwick resident elected to scouting board of directors

Orangeburg Bruce W. Mason, SVP, chief economist, has been elected to the board of directors of the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson Council, according to Union State Bank. The newly formed council serves Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester Counties, combining the previous separate councils. Mason first became involved with Girl Scouting while his daughters were young. He has been involved with the Girl Scout Council of Rockland County for the past five years, serving on the nomination and finance committees as well as participating in numerous fundraisers. Two years ago, he was honored as the Rockland County “Businessman of the Year” at the Council of Rockland County’s annual dinner, which he calls “a humbling experience.” Mason is a graduate of Colgate University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He also holds an MBA in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a graduate degree in banking from the University of Delaware. He is actively involved in the business and local community. He is a board member of the Rockland Economic Development Corp., where he also serves on the Committee of the Economy. Mason is also the president of the Life’s Journey Equine Therapy, Inc., which provides therapeutic riding for physically and mentally challenged children and young adults. He also volunteers his time helping these children at the Silver Rock Farm in Orangeburg. He resides with his family in Warwick.
