U.S. Rep. Hayworth tours the opening of the Pine Island Black Dirt Farmers Market

Pine Island - On Saturday, June 18, U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth spoke about the importance of shopping local with area farmers and residents during her tour of the new Pine Island Black Dirt Farmers Market. “We were thrilled that Congresswoman Nan Hayworth was able to share our excitement over bringing local farmers and vendors together in one shopping place highlighting the bounty of the Black Dirt Region,” said Pine Island Chamber President Marlene Caraballo. The market, which runs every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 8 at Pine Island Town Park at the intersections of Kay Road and Treasure Lane features a variety of local products, including fresh fruits and vegetables; grass-fed meats; plants; hanging baskets; herbs and herb-infused olive oils; cheeses, organic tea/coffee/cacao; pies; cheesecake; baked goods; artisan soaps; free range eggs; honey; and more.
