Two insurance agents further their education

Warwick Sara C. Werling has earned the designation of certified insurance counselor following successful completion of an insurance education program sponsored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. As well, Dana E. DeGroat has received her insurance agent’s license. The two work at the firm of Seely & Durland on Second St. in Warwick. The society, headquartered in Austin, Texas, is a national not-for-profit organization offering professional insurance education in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Currently over 27,000 agents and insurance professionals have received the designation. The CIC designation and other continuing education certifications are what set independent agents apart from the price-driven, 1-800 or internet insurance companies, according to Stuart Durland. Certified insurance counselors must demonstrate their professional competence through a combination of experience, formal training, and a series of comprehensive written examinations focusing on all major fields of insurance, insurance management, and agency operations. “Dana is the office receptionist, and plays a very important role in welcoming and directing clients to the various agents in our company,” explained Durland. “We congratulate both Sara and Dana on their accomplishments. Their hard work demonstrates the top priority we place on ongoing education.” The firm is celebrating its 72nd anniversary as an independent insurance agency.
