St. Stephen’s hosts the Catholic Daughters of the Archdiocese of New York

WARWICK — In his opening remarks before Mass on Saturday morning, November 1, Rev. Michael McLoughlin, pastor of the Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr, welcomed over 100 Regents and past Regents of the Catholic Daughters of the Archdiocese of New York.
Formed in 1903, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas.
McLoughlin, who celebrated the Mass, apologized to the visitors for the long trip those who had traveled from the far reaches of the Archdiocese had endured, but added, on what was an unseasonably mild and sunny day, “Warwick is a beautiful place to visit and to live.”
McLoughlin is the chaplain for the local Catholic Daughters Court of St. Anne. And since last February, members of that local court have been preparing for the 44th Annual Memorial Mass for Deceased Members of the Catholic Daughters of the Archdiocese of New York.
Thirteen Courts from the Archdiocese and more than 100 Catholic Daughters attended the Mass at St. Stephen’s and the luncheon, which followed, at the Warwick Country Club.
“The Catholic Daughters of the Archdiocese of New York had a wonderful Mass for all of their deceased members,” said local Regent Marie DeMarmels. “They were very appreciative for the spiritual homily given by Father Michael and those visiting St. Stephen’s for the first time commented about the beautiful windows in the church. Everyone had an opportunity to visit with other Courts, share new ideas and make new friends.”
