School Board commends district's 19 OM teams

Central Valley - A full house at the April 9 Monroe-Woodbury School Board meeting celebrated the many teams competing in the Odyssey of the Mind. Monroe-Woodbury School District students proudly wore their purple color for their OM teams as they waited to be commended by the school board. Ranging from elementary to high school, students and parents filled up the auditorium. More crowded in the entrance ways. Nineteen teams competed this year, and six teams won awards. Pine Tree Elementary was one of the teams to place second in the regional competition. Three teams placed first: North Main Elementary, the Monroe-Woobury Middle School and High School. The elementary school received a perfect calculated score. The North Main team and Monroe-Woodbury High School team will now compete in the finals. Odyssey of the Mind is an international competition that emphasizes on ingenuity and teamwork.
