William J. McCormick, Jr.

    William J. McCormick, Jr. of West Milford died peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2013. He was 82.

    Born in New York City, he was the son of Viola and William J. McCormick Sr. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War. Bill attended Florida Southern University and received his bachelor's degree from Paterson State Teachers College. He went on to get his masters in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University. Bill was employed by West Milford Public Schools as a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools, retiring in 1986. He was a member of West Milford Education Association, West Milford Administrators Supervisors Association, National Association of Secondary Principals, National Association of School Administrators, NJ Association of School Administrators, N.J.E.A. and N.J.R.A.A.

    Bill is survived by his daughter Mary (Meg) McCormick-Manista and her husband, Rick, of West Milford, two sons, Michael J. and his wife Clare of Morris Plains and William J. III and his wife Nancy of Warwick, N.Y. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Rick Manista, Ryan, Tyler. William IV, Kate and Kelly McCormick, one sister, Joan Cinelli of Franklin Lakes, one brother Donald of Scottsdale, Ariz., his Godson, Alfred William Cinelli of Franklin Lakes and several nieces and nephews.

    Bill was predeceased by his wife, Juliann McCormick, in 2002 and his son, John Patrick McCormick in 2010.

    A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 454 Germantown Road, West Milford.

    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Joseph’s Church or St. Jude Tribute Program.

    Funeral arrangements were made by the Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford.
