Vivian R. Flood
Vivian R. Flood, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on Aug. 27, 2017. She was 97.
Vivian, the daughter of Lurella B. (Keegan) and James L. Horton, was born Aug. 3, 1920. She was the youngest of four children, including sister Frances and brothers, James and Earl, all of whom pre-deceased her.
She was the widow of William S. Flood, who died Nov. 18, 1976.
Vivian loved her hometown of Warwick and the people in it. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Warwick since 1920. She was a charter member of the Veterans of War Ladies Auxiliary, as well as the Warwick Country Club. She had worked as a clerk at the Warwick State School for Boys and at the International Pavilion at the former Sterling Forest Gardens. She was socially active with the railroad families of the L&H railroad during the ‘40s through the ‘70s.
Vivian is survived by her son William and his wife Margaret of Sun City, Florida, and their children, Erin of Sun City, William II of Austin, Texas, Garrett and his wife Audray of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Vivian is also survived by her son James and his wife Marilyn of Poughkeepsie, and their son, Dr. Jeremy Flood of Philadelphia. She has two great-grandchildren, Carter and Micah in Colorado.
Visiting will be held on Friday, Sept. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
The Christian Services will be held at noon on Saturday at Christ Church, South Street, Warwick.
Burial will follow at Warwick Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Schervier Pavilion and St. Anthony’s ER and ICU for their care, concern and compassion while giving Vivian comfort during her last days. The staffs from both were exemplary.
