Vincent Ventura of Chester, a broker for Blue Anchor for 37 years, died suddenly on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. He was 85.

The son of Pasquale and Maria Belluscio Ventura, he was born Dec. 16, 1928, in New York City.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a former New York State trooper.

Vincent was a loving husband, devoted father and proud papa who cherished the time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Baily Ventura; three sons: Vincent Ventura and wife Doreen; Matthew Ventura and his wife Joellyn; and John Ventura; daughter Desiree Higgins and her husband Paynter; nine grandchildren: Andrew, Vincent, Sophia, Brittney, Christopher, Nicole and Corey Ventura; Hunter and Vivian Higgins; and niece Elizabeth Carbone and her son Scott.

He was predeceased by his sister, Angelina Carbone.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 23 at St. Joseph Church in the Village of Florida.

Entombment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
