Vincent A. Smith, Sr., of Warwick, (formerly of Vernon, N.J.), passed away on July 21, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital, Warwick, NY. He was 76 years old.

Born on Feb. 22, 1937 in Paterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Lewesley) Smith.

Vincent was a Chemical Engineer with Ames Rubber Corporation in Hamburg, N.J.. He was formerly a Housekeeping Manager with the Playboy Club in McAfee, N.J., and the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, N.J.. He was an avid Mets and Giants fan, loved politics and history, had enormous strength and courage, and had the best sense of humor — which he generously passed down to his six children.

He is survived by his former wife, Mary Ann (Foy) Smith of Warwick and his children — Diane Kennedy-Jayne and her husband, Greg, of Warwick; Vincent A. Smith, Jr. of Glenwood Springs, Colo,; Maryann Collins of Vernon, N.J. and her fiancé, Richard Cosh; Ruthann Luzzi and her husband, Fran, of Sparrowbush, N.Y.; Lori McDonald and her companion, Paul Betz, of Harriman; and Patricia Smith of Sparrowbush. Vincent is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a brother, James Smith. He was predeceased by his younger brother Joseph. He will also be missed by his special friend, Jane Anderson, and her daughter Shannon, as well as his friends at Liberty Green who became like family.

Visitation is on Thursday, July 25 at Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, N.Y. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
