Thomas Georgalas of Brooklyn (and formerly of Warwick) passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018. He was 31 years old.
He was born in Freehold, N.J., the son of Arthur and Kathleen (Osterberg) Georgalas on May 14, 1987.
Tom was a graduate of Warwick Valley High School, then attended SUNY Purchase and the University of Albany.
His passion was cooking. He apprenticed at Bobolink Dairy and Bakehouse formerly in Vernon, N.J., as their breadmaker.
Most recently, Tom worked at Simon and The Whale Restaurant as a sous chef.
He is survived by the love of his life, Becky Radolf of Brooklyn; his parents, Arthur and Kathleen of Warwick; three brothers: Chris and his partner Yaneth of Charlotte, N.C., Andrew (Andy) and his wife Julie of North Olmsted, Ohio, and Nicholas and his partner Kate of Buffalo; his aunts and uncles: Matthew and Carol Osterberg of Milford, Pa., Martin and Nancy Osterberg of Whiting, Roy Osterberg of Clear Lake, California, MaryEllen Osterberg of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Angela and Jim Cucinello of Mahwah, N.J., Steve and Angelo Georgalas of Hackensack, N.J., and Robert Georgalas of Copenhagen, Denmark; and many beloved cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, immediately followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
The family is establishing a memorial scholarship in Tom’s memory and we will publish details as soon as they are available.
