Stephen A. Dunn Sr. of Greenwood Lake passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, after a 37-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 70 years old.

Stephen was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Manhattan, the only child of Theresa and Albert Dunn.

He was a retired New York Transit Police officer who resided in Greenwood Lake for 45 years.

The Multiple Sclerosis may have limited him physically; however, it never dampened his spirit. He was strong and brave in the face of countless medical issues. His will to live blessed his family with 70 wonderful years with him. Although he could not speak the words, his love for his family shined through his sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile as they entered his room.

Survivors include his dedicated and beloved wife, Barbara; his mother Theresa Dunn of Greenwood Lake; his son Stephen A. Dunn Jr. and wife Mary of Greenwood Lake; his daughter Kelly Brueckner of Chester; his daughter Erica Rosenthal and husband David of Monroe; his grandchildren: Stephen, Jimmy, Lindsey, Lauren, Zachary, Emily, Caitie, Connor and Cameryn; his son-in-law James Brueckner of Chester; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert C. Dunn Jr.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's R.C. Church in Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
