    Sophie Kepponen of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Warwick, N.Y., passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019, at the Autumn Care Center in Brunswick, N.C. She was 95 years old.
    Born Feb. 22, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph and Stella (Wisniewski) Dlugenska.
    Sophie worked as a bank teller for Maspeth Federal Savings and Loan in Maspeth, N.Y. After retiring as a bank teller, Sophie moved to Colorado Springs where she spent a very happy 15 years before relocating to Warwick.
    Sophie was a member of The Warwick Valley Seniors and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.
    Sophie is survived by her daughter Carole O’Neill; three grandchildren: Daniel O’Neill of New Milford, Conn., John Griesmer of Pendleton, N.Y., and Megan Conklin of Highland Mills, N.Y.; and eight great-grandchildren: Ayden, Brady, Caroline, Kasey, Sophia, Alexandra, Jackson and Hadley.
    She was predeceased by her husband Edward; daughter Kathleen Kepponen;
    son-in-law Thomas C. O’Neill; grandson Thomas E. O’Neill; and two brothers, Edward Spoth and Stanley Dlugenska.
    A Mass was celebrated April 25 at St. Stephen RC Church in Warwick.
