Shirley A. DeFrancisco of Warwick died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at The New Paltz Health Care Center in New Paltz, one day after her 81st birthday.
Shirley was an employee of the Warwick School District for 20 years and a resident of Warwick for nearly 70 years.
The daughter of Emerson and Leolia (Simpson) Ferdon, she was born June 15, 1937, in Liberty.
Shirley was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, mother and “Grammy D” to her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also shared a special bond with Hannah, who she loved like a granddaughter.
Dementia stole Shirley away from us slowly over the last five years. We are relieved she has now been reunited with John Sr., Joey and Kat.
She is the widow of John J. DeFrancisco. She also was predeceased by a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Kathleen.
She was the last of her siblings: Emerson Jr., Frank, Sue, Frances, Catherine, Ethel, Norma and Bobbie.
She is survived by her son John and wife Debra of Warwick; grandsons: Mathew of Newburgh and Michael of Warwick, granddaughters: Lisa and fiancé Joey of Pine Island, and Lexi of the Bronx; and great-grandchildren: Kaylin, Mason and Braden, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation and private burial as per her wishes have been completed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to The New Paltz Center, located at 1 Jansen Road, New Paltz, New York, 12561.
