Ruth E. Lucas

Ruth E. Lucas passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. She was 69 years old.

Born July 27, 1944, in the Bronx, she was the daughter of Arline (Nigerio) Pupello and Louis Pupello.

She was married to James Lucas for 47 years.

A longtime Orange County resident, Ruth retired as a customer service representative with Time Warner Cable in Middletown and was working as a lunch duty monitor at St. Stephen/St. Edwards School in Warwick.

She was known as “Nanny” to her beloved grandchildren and “Aunt Bunny” to her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband, James Lucas of Warwick; her mother Arline Pupello of Warwick; her children: James Lucas Jr. of Warwick, Jennifer Lucas of Warwick and Louis Neumar of Anaheim, California; three grandchildren: Gavin Fryer, Ava Fryer and Sofia Fryer, all of Warwick. She is also survived by two sisters: Josephine Gibson of Campbell Hall and Geraldine Magnaldi of Montauk; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Stephen's R.C. Church, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.

Funeral arrangements have been made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
