Rocco A. Velardi Sr.

Rocco A. Velardi Sr. passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at his home in Highland Mills. He was 83 years old and he had been a resident of the area for 50 years.

Son of Dominick and Anna Barbano Velardi, he was born Dec. 5, 1930, in New York City.

Rocco was the widower of Marie A. Velardi who predeceased him just four months ago on Aug. 8, 2013.

He was a retired plant manager with General Motors Corporation in Teterboro, N.J.

He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his children: Joanne Velardi and her partner Karen of Warwick, Richard Velardi and his wife Juliann of Sloatsburg, Roxanne Lexandra and her husband Darrel of Harriman, Rocco A. Velardi Jr. and his wife Beth of New City, Nicholas Velardi and his wife Angela of Bayville; his daughter-in-law Staci Velardi; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at St. Anastasia Parish, Route 17M, Harriman.

Interment of cremains with military honors will follow in Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
