Robert J. Sullivan
Robert J. Sullivan of Warwick, and formerly of the Bronx and Englewood, N.J., entered into rest Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013. He was 70.
The son of Thomas J. Sullivan and Mary Hammer Sullivan, he was born March 30, 1943, in the Bronx.
He loved playing bagpipes, Irish history, family, the beauty of nature, fun and excitement with those important to him. Bob was a founding member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Warwick Valley Chapter and was the aide to the Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Beginning with two paint cans filled with cement and a broomstick he became a skilled fighter and fought out of the Bronx in the golden gloves as one of the favorites. A sliced up hand took him out of the competition, but he never lost the “art” that was boxing.
Survivors include his wife Anne Sullivan; children Erin Sullivan and her fiancée Robert Bartlett, Kathleen Eugenio and her husband Mike, Thomas Sullivan and Brianne Sullivan; sisters Ellen Signore and her husband Raymond and children Kristen, Andrew and his wife Melissa and Margaret Nielsen and her husband John and daughter Megan; beloved grandchildren Michael Eugenio and Jolie Eugenio; sister-in-laws Mae Brosnan and her husband Sean, Kathleen Herson and Eileen Mullarkey; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at St. Joseph’s Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida. The Rev. Joseph Tokarczyk will officiate.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
