Robert E. Dall
Robert E. Dall, a retired custodian for Goshen Savings Bank and longtime resident of the area, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Bon Secours Hospital. He was 73.
The son of Edward and Mary T. Dall, he was born Oct. 20, 1945, at Royal Hospital in the Bronx.
He attended P.S. #35 in the Bronx, moved across the street to St. Angelis Marius, then moved to Chester High School from 1955-1960. He graduated from Goshen Central High School in 1964 and attended Orange County Community College in 1965 and from there was drafted into the U.S. Army on Nov. 29, 1965. He was a member of the 4th Infantry Division, Hq & Co. A, part of the 704th Maint. Tech Supply Unit. He was then shipped out to South Vietnam on Sept. 7, 1966, and returned Sept. 11, 1967.
Upon returning home, he met and later married his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Sherer, on Oct. 5, 1968.
Robert was an active umpire at sporting events in Orange County. He was a longtime member of the Goshen Fire Department and many veterans organizations including the VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans and VVA Chapter 140 in Middletown.
He was a member of the Middletown Bowling Association and was inducted in the Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Mary Ann Dall; his four daughters: Deborah Ann Alindogan and her husband Ron, Donna Marie Frank and her husband Chuck, Rebeca Erin Strang and her husband Brian and twin sister Elizabeth Ruth Cruz and her husband Carlos. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren. He also is survived by his sisters Kathy and her husband Bob Sherer of Warwick and Janice Dall of the State of Florida; his brother Edward Jr. of Goshen; and by his nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Dec. 19, at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 West Main St., Middletown.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Dec. 20 at St. Joseph Church in Middletown.
Burial was in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
